UK Helping People Get Online by Offering Linux Powered PC's For £98
The BBC is reporting today that the UK government is planning to offer refurbished PC's for £98 with subsidized net connections available for £9 a month.
They say that distributor Remploy hopes to sell 8000 machines in the next 12 months.
This comes as part of the UK's Race Online 2012 campaign which aims to "make the UK the first nation in the world where everyone can use the web. I personally can't think of a better goal, as in my opinion the internet should be a right and not a privilege.
