3D Graphics Coming to Android

Mobile3D

Another announcement out of Google. The company announced a new development tool called Renderscript. The new tools allows app developers to access 3D features in the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS.

A few games were demoed including Monster madness and a game by the History Channel that can run a pretty impressive amount of 3D models on the screen without any slowdown or drop in frame rate.

One of the more interesting demos was for an app called Google body. The app provides a 3D model of the entire human body, and lets you zoom, tilt , rotate, pan etc. The app even allows you to view the different layers of the human body. You can peel back the skin to reveal the muscle systems and the skeleton.

This along with the announcement of the new Android web store shows how serious Google is about taking on Apple in the mobile phone market.
