Cell Phones Getting Standard Power Supply

Micro_USB
According to CTIA (the wireless association) chairman Dan Hesse, all cell phones will have common micro-USB interface that can be used by universal chargers by 2012.
The announcement came during Mr. Hesse’s keynote at CTIA today, and was received with much applause. Mr. Hesse stated that it had been a pet peeve of his for a long time and said he’s sure it’s one of ours too, referring to the multitude of different adapters for charging and connecting your phone to your computer.
He also noted that the CTIA has a strong commitment to green technology and this is a huge step in that direction.
The EU (European Union) defined the common external power supply for use with data enabled mobile phones sold in the EU in 2009.
