Match.com Sued For Fake/Dead Profiles

CIO.com posted an article today by PC world about a class action lawsuit being filed against match.com For not mentioning the apparently 60% of dead or fake accounts on their service in their ad's. They claim match.com allows dead profiles to sit on their site for months in order to pad their membersip numbers.

Facebook Stops Phone and Adress Sharing For Developes

The BBC Is reporting today that Facebook has done an about face on allowing app developers to access your data through their API.
Facebook is saying that they need to find a more robust way to make sure users know what data their sharing, and I agree.
I think the way that it's laid out now is horrible. It either scares people away from allowing access thereby stopping them from using the app, or people end up allowing access to information they might not want to because they just gloss over the access rights page.

More Facebook Privacy Concerns

Facebook has now decided to give it's third party developers access to your number and address information, along with the usual list of permissions that include geolocation, friends list, name and such.

What does this mean to you? Well I would say its time (if you haven't already) to delete your phone number and address from your Facebook account. Who knows what kind of crazy spam you could be getting if you accidentally allow some third party app to access your info.

Facebook is swearing that the apps will have to be approved by them and that they will have to adhere to Facebook's strict no-spamming policy, however there have already been abuses by shady app developers in the past and there is no reason not to expect that to continue.

So go NOW! and delete your phone number and address info from Facebook before you get identity jacked.
