Hackers Target Department of Defense and the Military Base Holding Wikileaks Whistleblower Bradley Manning

ManningProtest

The hacker group anonymous is threating to go after the military base holding Wikileaks Whistleblower Bradley Manning. Private Manning is being held in Quantico, Virginia in a military base and is the man behind most of the leaked documents provided to Wikileaks. He’s been being held there since May and faces up to 52 years in prison if he’s convicted of stealing classified files. All the group is asking for is fair treatment and that they put a stop to the mistreatment.

There have been reports that Manning is being mistreated and abused by his captors, denied religious books, blankets and being forced to strip nude and salute every morning.

Manning’s treatment is inhumane and just plain wrong and raises a question to me, if the government can invade our privacy to protect our safety, why can’t we invade the government’s privacy do do the same?

Manning’s releasing of documents and Wikileaks posting of them allowed people who might not otherwise, see the brutality of the war see it unedited. People got a chance to see how terrorists are created and how attacking them and treating them like animals is only going to make more and put us in greater danger of attack.
